I Love the web site. This is a drawing I did of the
Hofmann/Force rivalry right after Al got his ear ring and did the egg
crush on NHRA today (or ESPN I can't remember ). I got it signed by both
Al & John at Englishtown. Maybe you want to add it to your web site.
I case you can't read the captions:
Real men don't wear ear ring, Al
Real men can wear any damn thing they like, John
But your still a good egg, John
Besides, you're the one with a Jolly Rancher on his
rod, not me!
Al, I will Love You Always!
Sincerely,
Kim Doran

| Comments: Al was a
great friend who I new for a short time but he made a lasting impression on
me that will be with me forever, We became instant friends which was not the
norm for Al, we had so much in common and enjoyed so many great times,
stories and we had made a lot of plans for things to do in the future, I was
in daily contact with Al and Suzie and really miss talking to my good
friend. I know he is in a nice place along with my father, mother, brother &
sister and someday we will meet up again and continue our friendship where
we left off. NEVER has one person had such an impact on me in such a short
period of time. Al you are truly missed by me and a lot of other true
friends, god bless you,
Your pal, Stingray |

| Comments: I got to watch Al Hofmann get started racing Funny cars at Connecticut Dragway back in the day. It was very cool to see people like Al & Chuck Etchells start their driving careers and then to go on to become great stars of the sport of N.H.R.A. Drag Racing. I got to see Al just last summer at Lebanon Valley Dragway, he was hanging out watching his son Wayne compete in T/D. I'm sure Al was very proud of Wayne as he to has proven that he can win like his Dad. I'm sure Al will be missed by many " He was one tough cat " who went after what he wanted and got it. |

| Comments:Remembering AL. .years ago, as a member of the NHRA Safety Safari with Suzie, we were working the #3 truck at Firebird and heard that Al was going to stop by and see Suzie.. so we got some Castrol GTX bottles and a hero card of Force's and some markers and added some graffiti to the inside of the wall..."Al who?"..."Moon THIS!" etc etc As Al came over, he saw the stuff...autographed it all and laughed a lot.. Wishing Suzie and all of Al's family the best...we miss you in AZ.. we're in the book if you need anything Mike Nervik for SIR/Tucson |

| Comments: Thanks
for all the intense racing & competition you gave us at the track! I really
enjoyed every run you made. So many racers have learned what it is to race
from watching you. Thanks for the memories. I will never forget you. PS. My dad said that drag racers were nothing but a**h***s so I took him to his 1ST drag race (The 1995 Winternationals). We went to Al's pit and witnessed the fireup & clutch seating! My dad, after going to his knees from the Nitro, gained RESPECT FOR THE MACHINE & ALL THAT DRAG RACING WAS. He told Al that there must be a lot of precision engineering that went into the car. I never heard him trash talk drag racing/racers again! It was his 60th birthday and he really enjoyed it. RIP Al Hofmann, I will never forget you. Ron NHRA #64925 |
